I'm so excited to be one of the four 2023 Amon Carter Community Artists! The Carter Community Artist (CCA) initiative was established to collaborate with and support local artists, to enhance the Carter’s events and programs, and to connect practicing artists to the North Texas community. Every year, the Carter selects four local artists to assist with creating, planning, and leading experiences on-site, off-site, and virtually. I’ve been dealing with lower back pain off and o

I’ve been dealing with lower back pain off and on for over a year, but it’s gotten worse recently. My doctor said it’s most likely due to sitting and sewing for hours. He recommended taking breaks every 45 min and investing in a standing desk. Thanks to my mom, I got a standing desk for free, and now have both of my sewing machines ready to go. I’m very thankful that I’m able to make art despite my back issues. Weasel also loves that his kitty tree is high enough for him to see what I’m up to at all times. #artstudio #studiocat #babylocksewing #backpain #momsarethebest

The first threadpainting of my Caprock Canyon seri

The first threadpainting of my Caprock Canyon series is basically done. Only a few tweaks and stretching to do. I visited Caprock in March. I would not recommend hiking there now. Texas is incredibly beautiful but very little of it is hike-able during the summer. I’ll be working in my air-conditioned studio while listening to Dana Stabenow’s Alaska-based Kate Shugak series, and daydreaming of cooler locales until October. #threadpainting #caprockcanyon #texas #dfwartist #texasspring #wip #texasheat
